FireWire Spark Suppressor
The FireWire Spark Suppressor guards against sparking, and other power surge problems when hot plugging in FireWire devices. This isn't a big concern to FireWire device owners until they blow the board in their device. We have seen many customers tell us that we need to tell the world about our protective FireWire items such as this, and that it has saved them between $500 and $2,000 for a board replacement.
What's different about this?
This is different than our FireWire port isolator, in that it allows power to pass, just not too much power. This comes in handy when you use a FireWire device that requires bus power.
ESD Protection
Another really nice feature is the stout ESD protection this provides. Some dry environments can produce static and blow ports, even on 4pin devices. This provides protection against that. It can support protection up to 15Kv, with a 24A peak, for up to 20 microseconds, which is a pretty hefty spark.
