This adapter was built with our long FireWire 4pin to 4pin in mind. We've gotten a lot of calls from users with Macbook Pros and iMacs who have a 9pin FireWire, but want to plug in a DV camcorder. We made this adapter cable, instead of a small solid adapter, to help give more flexibility so that the FireWire port doesn't get worn out or cracked from a rigid adapter.

Not just for long FireWire
This cable can be used in any FireWire situation, not just with our long FireWire cables. If you already have a cable that works for you, and just need to adapt a 4pin to a 9pin connection, this will work great.
